Proper Maintenance for Indoor Fountains

Proper Maintenance for Indoor Fountains

When you own indoor slate wall fountains, you should consider a fountain water treatment as an important part their overall care and maintenance. You could be a little surprised to know that wall fountains do not need heavy maintenance. When its features have been set up, the only things that you would have to do are to clean the fountain, take out its evaporated water and replace it with a new one, and then apply a weekly fountain water treatment.
You have to make sure that the water level of your fountains should be at its peak. Its pump should always be submerged into the water so it could function properly. There are no given standards in maintaining fountains. The amount of water that your fountain loses in one day can also change due to the fact that heat and aridness can generally affect evaporation.

When there is more humidity in the air, your fountain will lose less water. Instead of adding several gallons of water every other day, the best thing that you can do is to add a little extra water every day… just like pouring water over your plants!

When you apply fountain chemical treatments to your indoor slate wall fountain, you can actually get rid of mineral deposits as well as algae and white scale. However, this is not a replacement for thorough cleaning; it’s just a temporary solution. When applying your weekly water treatment, you won’t have to clean your fountain constantly or relentlessly replace the water.

Fountain water treatments also have their limit. You can just use a little amount of treatment when it is needed because only a few drops will do for one gallon of water.

Usually, you have to clean your entire fountain area every quarter or every six months, more or less. Cleaning your indoor slate wall fountains as well as replacing its water is both important for their proper function because fountain chemicals also build up in its basin and pump. When they build up inside the fountain pump, this part is at risk for further damages.
With this situation, the worst thing that you can possibly do is to keep the pump working even when it is not submerged under water surface. Keep in mind that water helps cool the pump and maintains its temperature.

You can also clean your fountain pump and remove all chemical pollution inside. First, unplug the fountain pump and remove the debris that has formed on the outside. You can just scrub the piece with a clean rag or cloth. If ever you find it difficult to get rid of the algae, try soaking the exterior in vinegar. You can remove the pump’s cover next, and then pull out the impeller to clean any debris that is left. Now replace the cover and restart your fountain!

Your indoor slate wall fountain and its safety can be affected by fountain chemical pollutants so regular maintenance is the best way for you to enjoy your fountain’s long life. You can always refer to the suggested cleaning procedures that are included in your fountain by its manufacturers before adding anything or cleaning up your fountain.
